Whether you can offer your time, your skills, or a financial contribution, there is a meaningful place for you in our work. We are a small charity doing substantive things, and every form of involvement — however modest it feels to you — has a direct and visible impact on the lives of local people living with chronic pain in Elgin and across Moray.
Our programmes run entirely on the generosity of volunteers, donors, and partner organisations. Without that support, people in our community would have nowhere to turn between clinical appointments — nowhere to learn, to share, and to feel genuinely understood. Your involvement changes that.
We train and support peer facilitators, session helpers, and administrative volunteers throughout the year. If you live with chronic pain and want to turn your experience into something that helps others, we would love to hear from you. Our peer facilitators receive full training, ongoing supervision, and support from the wider Sable network. Volunteering with us is a genuine two-way exchange — many of our facilitators describe the role as one of the most meaningful things they've done.
Your donation keeps our programmes free for everyone who needs them, funds our transport scheme, and helps us train the next cohort of peer facilitators. Even a small regular gift makes a lasting difference to people in our community. We are a registered Scottish charity, and all donations are used directly to fund our work in Moray. There are no large overheads here — your money goes to the people who need it most.
We welcome partnerships with local businesses, healthcare organisations, and community groups who want to extend their reach into chronic pain support. Sponsorship, in-kind support, and referral partnerships all help us serve more people across Moray. If your organisation wants to make a tangible difference to health and wellbeing in the region — and to be publicly associated with work that genuinely changes lives — we would be delighted to have a conversation about what partnership might look like.
Our peer facilitators are the heart of everything we do. Each one has their own chronic pain story — and it's exactly that story, alongside their Sable training, that makes them effective. There is no script that can replicate the credibility that comes from a facilitator who genuinely understands what it's like to cancel plans three weeks in a row, to dread a flare, or to feel invisible in a consultation room.
Becoming a facilitator takes commitment. We ask for attendance at an initial training weekend, ongoing monthly peer supervision, and a minimum of one circle facilitated per year. In return, we offer full training, ongoing support, out-of-pocket expense reimbursement, and the knowledge that you are doing something that matters profoundly to the people in your circle.
You do not need any professional qualifications to become a peer facilitator. You do need to have your own experience of living with chronic pain, a genuine interest in supporting others, and the willingness to be honest about what you do and don't know. If that sounds like you, please reach out — we run new facilitator cohorts twice a year and would love to hear from you.
Running free programmes takes money. It pays for venue hire, facilitator training, printed resources, the transport scheme that gets participants to sessions, and the small staff team that keeps everything running. We fundraise carefully and spend carefully. Every pound we receive goes as directly as possible to the people we exist to serve.
A regular gift — even a few pounds each month — is particularly valuable to a small charity like ours, because it allows us to plan ahead and sustain programmes that participants depend on. A one-off donation is equally welcome and equally appreciated.
We are a registered SCIO under Scottish charity law. Donations from UK taxpayers may be eligible for Gift Aid, which allows us to claim an additional 25p for every £1 you give.
£5/month — funds one session of printed materials
